Separate the signal from the display of it
Audio and video engineering videos can explain signals, interfaces or perceptual results. Choose the layer you want to understand before comparing technical specifications that may describe very different parts of a system.
Montgomery’s presentation is a useful entry into sampling and conversion. Eater’s VGA build makes video timing concrete through a small hardware project. The two examples are not interchangeable standards tutorials. For each, identify the information being sent, the physical or numerical representation, and the receiver’s expectations. A clean diagram of a sample or frame does not by itself explain reconstruction or timing.

Choose the breadboard video-card project for a concrete route into video timing. Basic digital electronics makes the construction easier to follow.
Do not infer listening quality or visual quality from one number alone. Standards, reconstruction, equipment and human perception all affect the result.
